We are looking to cover the Commercial Operations Manager position that will report to the Business Development Director 


The Commercial Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating and optimizing all commercial prospection and account management and service delivery activities across EIT Urban Mobility. This role acts as a central operational pillar enabling the organisation to meet its sales and business development objectives, ensuring alignment between strategy, marketing, client engagement, and internal delivery teams. 


The Commercial Operations Manager drives the successful implementation of prospection strategies, supports market development activities, oversees cross-departmental commercial processes, and ensures that partners receive high-value engagement throughout the lifecyclefrom initial lead identification to contract signature and ongoing service delivery. This role is the guardian of loyalty, partner/client satisfaction and growth. 



Main tasks and responsibilities include: 

 

Prospection Management 


  • Coordinate and implement the company-wide prospection strategy aligned cross-functionally with organisational objectives, priority markets, and buyer personas. 
  • Work closely with Marketing to define lead qualification criteria and ensure marketing and campaigns support the prospection targets. 
  • Oversee lead generation, qualification, and pipeline progression, ensuring smooth handover between Innovation Advisors to Partner Development teams or solution providers. 
  • Identify new high-potential topics by markets and verticals, through structured market and gap analysis. 
  • Monitor performance of prospection activities and recommend improvements based on data-driven insights. 
  • Provide the prospection team with knowledge and training on the EITUMbook of solutions and start up portfolio before going to the market. 

 

Account Management


  • Ensure partners receive high-value engagement aligned with EIT Urban Mobility's value proposition ensuring loyalty and cross/upselling. 
  • Support account managers in identifying new engagement opportunities and improving existing services for scalability and impact. 
  • Promote a consistent service experience ensuring partner satisfaction and strong results in the annual service satisfaction survey. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, acting as an escalation point to ensure service quality. 
  • Detect and communicate cross-selling and upselling opportunities across service lines. 

 

Central Commercial Process Management 


  • Coordinate and continuously improve cross-company business development and account management processes. Ensure the partner lifecycle is running smoothly and if needed, update its standards and processes. 
  • Maintain and update the commercial process library, ensuring documentation is accurate, accessible, and up to date. 
  • Align internal teams around standard operating procedures, ensuring consistent implementation across countries and departments. 
  • Support the development and validation of new business models and service offerings, coordinating market assessments and feedback loops. 
  • Facilitate internal communication between Marketing, Business Development, Innovation Advisory, Innovation Hubs and other key teams. 


Reporting & CRM/Data Management


  • Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of CRM records and commercial databases (PipelineFunnel, Partner Activity Tracker, etc.). 
  • Ensure regular and reliable reporting on commercial KPIs, partner engagement metrics, and business development performance. 
  • Analyse commercial data to identify trendsrisks, and opportunities, and present recommendations to leadership. 
  • Prepare documentationdashboards, and insights for internal and external reporting needs. 
  • Promote data-driven decision-making across commercial teams by improving reporting tools. 



    What you will bring along the way:

     

    The Commercial Operations Manager must demonstrate the ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and drive standardisation, supported by strong self-driveresilience, and intrinsic motivation. The role requires a pragmatic problem-solver with a simplification mindset, combined with influential communication skills in a distributed, multicultural setting. Success in this position depends on strong stakeholder management and constructive assertiveness, alongside an autonomousproactive, and solution-oriented approach. A collaborative leadership style with a human touch is essential, as is being flexible and adaptive rather than rigidly perfectionist.  



    Must-have:

     

    • University degree in Engineering (e.g., Industrial, Civil, Transportation, Mechanical, Systems, or related fields relevant to urban mobility) ideally complemented by studies in Business Administration or related business fields. 
    • Excellent command of English (C1) and proficient Spanish (B2), both written and spoken. 
    • Minimum 2 years of Proven sales experience working with the EIT Urban Mobility ecosystem (partners, stakeholders, large companies, SMEs, start ups, universities, research centers, …)
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in urban mobility, civil engineering, mass transit, freight/logistics, computer science, or related sectors. 
    • Proven experience managing the full sales cycle, with exposure to both B2B and B2G environments. 
    • Demonstrated experience in account management and/or customer success, ensuring long-term client satisfaction. 
    • Experience of minimum 2 years working with or coordinating multidisciplinary teams. 
    • Proven ability to define, translate, and execute strategy, delivering high-quality outputs within established timelines. 



    Nice-to-have:


    • Knowledge of additional European languages is considered a strong asset.

    Kindly note that this is a permanent and full-time position, and it is based in Barcelona.


    Possibility to work from home 2 days a week.
