This role is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to work on a dynamic Investment Banking team and to contribute to the leading global M&A franchise with a focus on transactions involving Financial Sponsors.

Our product group focuses on the origination and execution of public and private M&A transactions with a Financial Sponsor role. The client universe you will interact with includes leading private equity firms, SWFs, family offices, venture capital funds, large EMEA corporates, sponsor-owned companies and entrepreneur-led / family businesses. You will get exposure to all sectors, regions, and types of transactions including sell-sides, buy-sides, public-to-private, carve-outs, etc. 

As an Associate in the Investment Banking EMEA M&A team, you will play a central role in advising clients with respect to M&A transactions that have a Financial Sponsor angle. You will have exposure to a variety of landmark M&A transactions that take place in EMEA, working closely with country, industry and other product teams in the bank. 

You will work with expert professionals at the #1 investment bank globally and will get exposure to formal training, hands-on learning opportunities, as well as continuous mentoring and feedback. You will develop strong investment banking skills and will be given the opportunity to develop into a senior officer capable of generating and executing their own transactions.

Job responsibilities 

  • Develop highly bespoke and sophisticated M&A processes, working in tandem with industry, country and other product teams from origination to execution
  • Drive M&A transactions from launch to signing, including investor outreach, process communication and overall transaction management
  • Develop comprehensive financial analyses, valuation models and other financial return models to help clients evaluate investment opportunities, potential capital structures or alternative monetarisation paths 
  • Work closely with management teams and other advisors to develop substantial transaction materials, including the preparation of business plans, performance analyses, due diligence reports and marketing materials  
  • Contribute to the final M&A structuring and negotiations for transactions, helping drive deals across the finish line
  • Support client dialogue and work closely with the firm’s largest clients in the private equity and infrastructure space 

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • 3-4 years of investment banking experience, particularly in Corporate Finance or M&A 
  • Strong interest and understanding of M&A and M&A processes, particularly on those involving Financial Sponsors and Infrastructure Investors 
  • Strong desire to achieve optimal transaction outcomes and create value for our clients, including taking ownership of a transaction and coordinating across industry, country and product teams to deliver the highest quality outputs 
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, showing initiative and support across several transactions in parallel, and managing time appropriately across competing demands
  • Desire to work across sectors and M&A transaction types (including sellsides, buysides, carve-outs, restructurings, etc.)
  • Proficient technical ability and overall corporate finance proficiency, including strong modelling skills (LBO, DCF, DDM), as well as knowledge of broader investment banking products
  • Ability to engage in client and investors communications, as well as dealing directly with clients and other advisers 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills 

  • Prior experience in executing transactions with financial sponsor involvement 
  • European language (in addition to English) is desired but not mandatory
