Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Lab Manager to lead the Laboratory operations of our Customer Experience Center (CEC). This state-of-the-art facility showcases our life science and diagnostic tools and technologies, enabling hands-on demonstrations, customer training, sample analysis and collaborative application development. The ideal candidate will bring deep scientific expertise, operational leadership, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. Role will require up to 10% regional travel to other company sites
Essential Duties
Strategic Planning & Innovation
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the CEC, aligning lab capabilities with business goals.
- Identify opportunities to expand lab offerings and improve customer engagement.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in life sciences.
Lab Operations & Management
- Oversee daily operations of the CEC laboratory and other EMEA demonstration facilities, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency.
- Manage inventory of reagents, consumables, and instrumentation.
- Ensure maintenance and calibration of lab equipment in accordance with manufacturer and regulatory standards.
- Develop and implement SOPs and best practices for lab workflows.
Customer Engagement & Experience
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and applications teams to design and execute impactful customer demos and training sessions.
- Host customer visits, workshops, and seminars, ensuring a professional and engaging experience.
- Act as a scientific ambassador, translating complex technologies into customer-relevant solutions.
Team Leadership
- Build, Lead and mentor a team of lab specialists and application scientists. Noting that direct people-leadership responsibilities will be integrated into the role over an estimated 18–24-month timeframe
- Foster a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support professional development and training of lab staff.
Essential Skills
- MSc or PhD in Life Sciences (e.g., Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology).
- 7+ years of relevant lab / industry experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Fluent in German & English. Other European languages a benefit but not essential
- Strong understanding of life science tools and or diagnostic workflows
- Proven track record of managing lab operations and leading teams.
- Experience in customer-facing roles or technical support is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management and process management.
- Familiarity with CRM and LIMS systems.
- Passionate about communicating and sharing scientific knowledge
- Self-motivated, innovative, and able to work independently
- Serves as a strong and authentic brand advocate
- Demonstrate professionalism and a confident presence
