As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support our Dutch operations and wider EMEA portfolio. 


In this role, you will act as a hands-on EHS professional, working closely with operational teams, contractors, and clients to ensure safe working practices across live data centre environments. You will support compliance with Dutch health & safety legislation (Arbowet), Salute internal standards, and relevant EU requirements, while travelling across the EU to support audits, site visits, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Health & Safety Management 

  • Conduct task-based risk assessments and support the RI&E process, ensuring hazards are identified, controlled, and documented.
  • Support operational teams to maintain compliance with Dutch EHS legislation, client requirements, and Salute policies.
  • Actively promote a strong safety culture across employees, vendors, and contractors.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of EHS management systems, including ISO 45001 and ISO 45003.

Incident Prevention & Investigation 

  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, identifying root causes and implementing preventative measures.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
  • Track trends and provide clear reports and recommendations to management.

Data Centre & High-Risk Activities 

  • Conduct regular site inspections in live data centre environments, including electrical rooms, plant areas, and contractor work zones.
  • Support permit-to-work systems, including electrical safety, LOTO, confined spaces, and contractor controls.
  • Provide guidance on electrical safety, critical infrastructure protection, and safe systems of work.
  • Identify security or safety-related concerns impacting people or client infrastructure and report appropriately.

Training & Engagement 

  • Deliver EHS training and toolbox talks to employees and contractors, either directly or via approved third-party providers.
  • Develop and maintain EHS training materials, procedures, and guidance documents.
  • Chair or support safety meetings and site safety briefings.

Emergency Preparedness 

  • Support the development, implementation, and testing of emergency response plans.
  • Coordinate and participate in emergency drills with site teams and external responders.
  • Ensure first aid, fire safety, and emergency arrangements remain compliant and effective.

Audit & Continuous Improvement 

  • Support and conduct internal EHS audits and site compliance inspections.
  • Assist with client, regulatory, and certification audits as required.
  • Monitor changes in country-specific legislation and support implementation across sites.

 

Skills & Competencies 

 

  • Strong working knowledge of Dutch health & safety legislation (Arbowet).
  • Practical experience with RI&E, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Experience working in data centres, mission-critical environments, or other high-risk industries.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage employees, contractors, and clients.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites and countries.
  • Comfortable operating in live, operational environments.

 

Qualifications & Experience 

 

Essential 

  • MVK qualification (or actively studying HVK),or NEBOSH General Certificate / Diploma.
  • 2–3 years’ experience in an EHS advisory or officer role.
  • Experience with Arbowet, RI&E, and contractor safety management.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English(spoken and written).
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly across the EU.

Desirable 

  • Experience in a data centre or mission-critical environment.
  • Electrical safety experience.
  • ISO 45001 / ISO 45003 knowledge or implementation experience.
  • First Aid and Fire Marshal certification.
  • Additional European language skills.
