Reports to: SVP of Tomato Operations 

Department: Operations 

Classification: Full-time, Exempt

Pay: $95,000–$125,000 annually

This is a full-time position located on-site at our Modesto office and will be required to travel to Lodi to support Olive mill during their operations. 

  • Our Sanitation Manager will play a key role in making sure all sanitation activities meet the highest quality standards and comply with established food safety programs.

Cannery Operations:

  • Supervise sanitation team and manage work schedules to ensure smooth daily Cannery Operations.
  • Oversee sanitation supervisor, leads and maintain a comprehensive sanitation schedule for the facility.
  • Providing guidance to the Sanitation team and support to ensure effective cleaning practices.
  • Oversee and supervise all janitors for Cannery Operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to ensure cleanliness and compliance with sanitation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, including cleaning schedules, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with operations to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of sanitation chemicals and supplies.
  • Develop, update, and implement sanitation procedures and training programs.
  • Collaborate with production and quality assurance teams to ensure minimal disruption during cleaning processes.
  • Investigate and address any sanitation-related issues or non-conformities promptly.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the sanitation team.
  • Responsible for seasonal needs of additional bathrooms, breakroom, and other inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, OSHA, SQF, and other regulations.
  • Enforce compliance with all Company and Union policies to the Sanitation team. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Olive Mill:

  • Supervise sanitation team and manage work schedules to ensure smooth daily Mill Operations.
  • Oversee and supervisor all janitors for Mill Operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, including cleaning schedules, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Develop, update, and implement sanitation procedures and training programs.
  • Providing guidance to the Sanitation team and support to ensure effective cleaning practices.
  • Collaborate with production and quality assurance teams to ensure minimal disruption during cleaning processes.

  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the sanitation team.

Administration Areas:

  • Oversee the third-party cleaning services.
  • Collaborate with department and/or area heads for cleaning  staffing throughout the year.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of sanitation chemicals and supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Experience supervising a team and managing schedules.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in food safety or sanitation preferred.
  • Previous experience in a sanitation supervisor role, preferably in a food production or dairy environment.
  • Strong knowledge of sanitation validation processes, including allergen cleaning.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and manage compliance with food safety programs.
  • Good communication skills to effectively lead and train sanitation staff.
  • Intermediate skills with database and office software applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays as needed.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
  • Ability to have flexibility with schedule and hours worked during Tomato and Olive seasons. 

Physical Requirements:

Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and frequent fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 50% or more sitting, 25% or less walking, and 25% or more standing. The job is performed under occasional temperature variations and primarily in an manufacturing/office environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift to 35lbs. is required. The ability to drive a car from Modesto to Lodi occasionally.
